Since April 2010, many BCGEU Community Social service workers in Community Living and General Services have been covered under the Municipal Pension Plan.
The Community Social Services Labour Adjustment & Education Fund (L.A.E.F.) is designed to encourage professional development and continued employment for workers in the community-based social service sector.
The L.A.E.F. covers retraining to aid and assist individuals in the community social services sector who have lost their job due to layoff, bumping, contracting out, retendering, or have had their hours significantly reduced; and who are taking courses or upgrading to continue in a unionized community social service position in British Columbia.
To be eligible, impacted members must have been covered by one of the three community social services sectoral agreements (i.e. Aboriginal; Services, Community Living Services and General Services).
We are currently calling for LAEF applications. Click here for details.
This program is a collaborative program to assist workers who are ill or injured to return to work.

Community Social Services are rarely in the public eye – although the problems they help solve are often in the news. Through the "Community Social Services Matters" website, frontline workers can tell their stories about making a real difference in people’s lives. Frontline workers are invited to submit their worker profile.
